1. The Gosh Darn Login
Google offers so many great services. But they confuse logins with other accounts associated within the business aspects of everything departmental. And that’s within an organization. And let’s say you have an AdSense account that doesn’t function properly when you first install this, potentially, lovely product and service. When you connect it, it sends all kinds of errors and won’t load when you “login”. This causes so much frustration with many small business owners, myself included. And for a while, I thought I had made the error myself. Which could still be half the problem. But at either rate, their version of self help doesn’t offer the right FAQ for many of these issues. HEY GOOGLE! FIX YOUR LOGIN!
2. Deleting Your Account
With the above frustration not being able to login, many small business owners get a message saying they need to delete that other account they can’t log into. What form of logic is this? If you can’t log into that account, how can you delete it? HEY GOOGLE! FIX YOUR LOGIN!!
3. Third Party Resellers
The reseller program has so much potential. Except… most of everything Google is “Open Source”. Which translates to: people can create whatever they want in the G Cloud and resell their services that truly belongs to Google, Apache and The Creative Commons. Which, is the best thing ever, buuuuuttttt…. the catch is… Google troubleshooting is akin to shooting yourself in the foot. Most of which is because…. Want to take a guess? HEY GOOGLE! FIX YOUR LOGIN!!
4. Google Apps/ GSuites … What’s The Name Gonna Be Next Quarter?
Google can’t seem to decide on the names of their products and services and as a result of all the complications with privacy rights, advertisers and publishers like me can’t seem to decide how to go about this GDPR regulation and and what has followed in California and now this “Opt-In” initiative. Which, most of us as consumers will agree that the data used could have tremendous repercussions on a user concerning their privacy. It could very well end up being a Orwellian dilemma with hyper surveillance. It is good to nip that in the bud for sure. BUT, advertising companies dealing with these new structures are forced to make these changes and when trying to implement strategies within the guidelines of compliance, it falls back on conglomerates like Google. HEY GOOGLE! FIX YOUR LOGIN!!
5. AI/ Machine Learning
While AI/ machine learning is the wave of the future and of the now, there is a vastly growing disconnect amongst people. While technology jobs are in demand, conglomerates are trying like hell to replace paid labor with robotics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Although this was expected, the fact that Google only offers self guided automated responses is enough to state that Google doesn’t really care about interpersonal connection as the internet was made for. Even though Google offers some of the best applications to connect people, they do a shit job being connected to people themselves. It would be easier to connect, if you could login to their other services that reach people. HEY GOOGLE! FIX YOUR LOGIN!!
AMP stands for accelerated mobile pages. It is a fantastic idea. If you’re not familiar, it is an initiative of the Creative Commons to convert computer software language into mobile application language using parameters that’s meant to shed the weight and loading times of web pages. And it is meant to format the web page on the mobile device functionally for the ease of mobile use. But there are so many structural incompatibilities within language and markups. I’m not that tech savvy, so I’ll spare you the back end functionality because I’m not that keen in that area. Coding isn’t my bag. And in all honesty, I believe that is the biggest issue.
Dumbing down the software and applications to people like me is great in theory, and many companies have adopted the phrase, “no coding required”. I’m just gonna throw the bullshit flag on that one. You’re going to want to tweak the design aesthetics or the functionality and in order to do that, being intermediately familiar with code is a must. It’s either that or be comfortable with what you got. Forget about improving upon it yourself.
7. Google Analytics
AND, it’s quirky to note that Google offers classes on the programs they offer. One such platform that I use often is Google Analytics. It tells me the performance of my site and does so wonderfully. And with a key and a secret key, I can monitor my website traffic beautifully. EXCEPT, I can’t log into it outside of the application. Imagine that. HEY GOOGLE! FIX YOUR LOGIN!!
I love Google. It’s fantastic. There’s no doubt about all the potential possibilities that can be done using Google. I’m still a customer. I use Google Ads which was AdWords or WordAds… too confusing with WordPress’ version of serving up ads, I guess. I mean… I’m a publisher with agency possibilities to advertise on behalf of clients and market their business with other platforms that integrate with Google. One such is AdMob. But I can’t login to that one.
Please fix your login. Please and thank you.
